The speakers will provide an overview of the evolution of wearable technology in the workplace including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), wearable sensors, data collection, and human factors issues. They will discuss the challenges of worker acceptance, data quality, and costs as well as the remarkable improvements in workplace safety that wearable technology promises for the future.
Haytham Elhawary created the wearable Kinetic Reflex device to reduce musculoskeletal injuries. The device detects high-risk postures and motions in workers who commonly perform physical labor, provides immediate feedback and collects and analyzes data. He will demonstrate the device, discuss the technological and behavioral underpinnings that make it so accurate and effective, provide dashboard views, and allow session attendees to test the device.
